On the centenary of the Balkan Wars (1912-1913) which marked the end of the Ottoman period in the Balkans and Southeast Europe and generated consequences that had decisive impacts on politics in and around the region, an international history congress was jointly organized by IRCICA and İstanbul Sabahattin Zaim University with the contributions of Zeytinburnu Municipality (Istanbul). The panel on “Oman in the Ottoman Archives” held at IRCICA on 5-6 October 2012 was the first meeting to focus on the history of relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Ottoman State as reflected in the official documents of the two countries. IRCICA and the National Record Office of Sudan have jointly organized a congress on “Sudan during the Ottoman Era” which was held in Khartoum, on 25-27 September 2012. The opening session was held in the presence of General Ali Othman Mohammed Taha, Deputy President of the Republic of Sudan, who delivered an opening address. The international congress on “China and the Muslim World: Cultural Encounters” took place in Beijing, China, on 28-29 June 2012. The Second Architectural Heritage Summer School on “Islamic Urban Heritage. Research, Preservation and Management”
20 June-17 July 2012 IRCICA and Al-Turath Islamic Heritage Foundation (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) have held the 2012 Summer School in the context of the program titled “Islamic Urban Heritage. Research, Preservation and Management”. The school was conducted through 20 June to 17 July 2012 involving two weeks of studio work in Istanbul followed by two weeks of training in field trips to significant heritage cities and sites. 33 students from the OIC member countries and Europe participated in the school. ›› more
