Arts, history of arts

Islamic arts constitute one of the major fields of IRCICA’s mandate. Activities in this area include the overall study of Islamic arts with respect to their categories and branches, characteristics, technical aspects, methods and materials, forms of expression and patterns of development, as well as studies on history of arts, architecture and history of architecture. In addition to conducting research and publishing books in these fields, IRCICA also organises international symposia, lectures, competitions and exhibitions. Because of the activities it undertook in the last two decades, IRCICA was acknowledged as a focal point of Islamic arts.

The very first international symposium organised by IRCICA following its establishment was devoted to Islamic arts.
