Training Program for Preparation of Nomination Dossiers for the World Heritage List In OIC Member States
April 06-10, 2020, Istanbul, Turkey
The aim of the program is to train specialists/experts from OIC member states for the preparation of the nomination dossiers to be listed on the world heritage list of UNESCO for heritage properties in their countries.
The need for this program is evident taking into consideration that less than 20% of the 1121properties listed on the World Heritage list of UNESCO are from the 57 OIC member states and that only one third of them has Islamic character.
Also, it is important to mention that many of the listed properties are located in non-OIC countries.
Specialists from OIC countries, selected to be coordinators of these program in their states, should be trained by instructors who are prominent experts in this field.
Participants will work organized in groups by several countries who share similar character of heritage. The main aim of this phase is to exchange knowledge related to preparation of nomination dossiers, especially management plans for the nominated properties.
Participants who completed this program will continue to work as coordinator of the team of specialists (architects, planners, historians, economists, engineers, etc) on the further steps in preparation of the dossiers for the inscription for the WH List till the end of January 2021.
After this phase each team should work on the final stage of their nomination dossiers till end January 2021.
After completion of this program will be possible to continue to participate online at IRCICA Center activities: to receive additional training and skills development, make site visits, and improve their national networks through relationship-building opportunities with other institutions, networks and programs.
