“IRCICA Heritage Talks” program of 2024 is conducted as a series of online panels. Invited speakers are discussing current issues of cultural heritage in the Muslim world.

Architect Abdulhakim Qasem Al-Sayaghi from Yemen will be the guest of the IRCICA Heritage Talks program in April, to speak on the theme “Preservation Efforts in Yemen during War & Armed Conflicts“.

The lecture, to be followed by Q&A talks, will take place on Thursday, 18 April 2024 at 3 p.m. Istanbul time, via online connection with the speaker.

Architect, Restorer & Conservation Planner
Director of the Social Fund for Development Yemen, Cultural Heritage Unit

Served in for 35 years in the cultural heriatge sector including as General Director of International Relations & Technical Cooperation and General Director of Projects at the General Organization for Preservation of Historic Cities in Yemen (GOPHCY) during 1988-2004. Designed and managed a large number of restoration projects of historic sites and monuments of Yemen including the Great Mosque- Old City of Sana’a and Al-Ashrafiya Mosque & Madrasa in Ta’izz; worked as expert and leader in conservation projects of Sana’a, Shibam, Sana’a, Zabid and the historic area of Aden in collaboration with local and international organizations, and in the project on preservation curricula for Yemeni universities.
