IRCICA participated in the 25th Meeting of the COMCEC Tourism Working Group on “Improving the Quality and Sustainability of Heritage Tourism in OIC Countries”

The 25th Meeting of the Tourism Working Group of the OIC Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) was dedicated to the topic of “Improving the Quality and Sustainability of Heritage Tourism in OIC Countries”. The meeting was held in Ankara, Türkiye, where the COMCEC Office is based, enlisting the contributions of the representatives of some member countries and OIC organs and institutions concerned with tourism development. Prof. Dr. Gürel Çetin, the COMCEC Consultant for Tourism, presented an Outlook of Tourism in the OIC Member Countries, a “Draft Research Report,” the latter tabled for discussion, and a study titled “Lessons Learnt from Selected Case Studies and the Policy Options.” During the session titled “Perspectives of the Member Countries,” presentations were made by experts from Burkina Faso, Iran and Türkiye. IRCICA’s presentation, placed under the session titled “Perspectives of International Organizations,” was made by Arch. Dr. Alidost Ertuğrul, Chief of the Architectural Section of IRCICA. The meeting concluded with recommendations on policies for improving the quality and sustainability of heritage tourism in the member countries, taking into consideration the COMCEC project support programs.
