“Islam in the Digital Space” Conference conducted by the Egyptian University of Islamic Culture Nur-Mubarak, the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan and IRCICA

IRCICA was a collaborating partner of the international conference themed “Islam in the Digital Space: Manifestations, Platforms, Opportunities” organized by the Egyptian University of Islamic Culture Nur-Mubarak (Almaty) in cooperation with the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan on 8 October 2025 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The conference was opened by the Chief Mufti of Kazakhstan Dr. Naurizbay Hajji Taghanuli. Prof. Ashirbek Muminov, IRCICA Director General’s Advisor for Central Asian Studies, made presentations and moderated sessions. The greetings address of IRCICA Director General Prof. Dr. Mahmud Erol Kılıç was read by Dr. Alidost Ertuğrul, Head of IRCICA’s Architectural Heritage Section. In his address, Director General Prof. Kılıç conveyed the importance attached by IRCICA to digital transformation in the treatment of manuscript, archival and printed sources that are part of the cultural heritage of the 57 OIC-IRCICA member countries; he said that the Centre’s ongoing projects include the digitization o written and visual materials, ensuring their preservation and facilitating their utilization across multiple disciplines.

The conference attended by experts from different countries provided a significant assessment of the issue as reflected in the relevant institutions’ policy and practice regarding research and management of resource collections.
