Award-winning works from IRCICA’s calligraphy competitions presented at exhibition in Vicenza

IRCICA took part with a sample of award-winning works from its calligraphy competitions, in the Exhibition titled “A Sea of Letters from the Mediterranean Coasts. The Islamic Art of Calligraphy and its Relationship with the Latin West” opened in Vicenza, Italy on 14 October 2023 by the Academy of Interreligious Studies (I.S.A.), Italy, the Museum of the Diocese of Vicenza and COREIS (Religious Community of Italian Muslim Youth). Plates in thuluth, jaly thuluth and muhaqqaq by calligraphers from Iraq, Egypt and Türkiye were lent by IRCICA to the exhibition.

Later, Dr. Giovanni Yahya Abd al-Ahad Zanolo, President of the Academy of Interreligious Studies (I.S.A.), Italy, paid a visit to IRCICA Director General Prof. Mahmud Erol Kılıç on 13 November 2023, at IRCICA headquarters, during his private trip to Istanbul. The talks centered around studies on Islamic theology and philosophy around the world, and an appraisal of the interest shown to the award-winner works of calligraphy from IRCICA’s competitions displayed as part of the calligraphy exhibition co-organized by I.S.A. in Vicenza during October 2023. Prof. Kılıç also gave information to Dr. Zanolo on IRCICA’s activities regarding Islamic arts and guided him to a display of calligraphic works in the conference hall.
