IRCICA Director General Prof. Mahmud Erol Kılıç participated in the 12th Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers

The 12th Session of the Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers (ICTM) was held in Khiva, Republic of Uzbekistan, on 31 May-2 June 2024. The conference received the reports presented by the OIC’s concerned subsidiary organs (IRCICA – Istanbul, SESRIC – Ankara and ICDT – Casablanca) and specialized institutions on their activities relevant for tourism development in the OIC Member States carried out since the 11th session of the ICTM (Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan, 2022). IRCICA Director General Prof. Mahmud Erol Kılıç gave addresses during the conference, briefing the Member States’ delegates on the activities of IRCICA that are producing references and strengthening awareness on the cultural assets of the Member States. The conference deliberated and made recommendations on possible measures and international cooperation in the field of tourism development. Under its program conducted since 2015 to celebrate selected cities of the Muslim world as OIC Cities of Tourism, the conference approved the selection of Dakar, Republic of Senegal, as the OIC City of Tourism for 2025, Cairo, Arab Republic of Egypt, for 2026, and Lahore, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, for 2027. The conference took note of the activities carried out by IRCICA in the context of this program, including the symposium on the history and cultural heritage of Şanlıurfa, the OIC City of Tourism for 2023, which was organized by IRCICA in December 2023.
