A delegation from the High Authority of Waqfs of Senegal visited IRCICA on 28 August 2019. The delegation was comprised of Ms. Oulimata Diop, Director General, Mr. Adama Cissé, Chairman of the Audit Commission, Mr. Ahmed Lamine Athie, in charge of Partnerships, accompanied by Mr. Cheikh Diallo, Trade Consultant, Embassy of Senegal, Ankara. They had completed a one-week working visit to the Directorate General of Waqfs of Turkey in the capital Ankara. High officials from this Directorate visited ircica together with the Senegalese group namely Ms. Ayşe Eda Murat, Head of the Department of Foreign Affairs; Ms. Özge Hasözdemir, Expert on Waqfs; Dr. Nurcan Sefer, Architect. In the absence of Director General Prof. Halit Eren, the guests were welcomed by Prof. Aboubacar Senghore, Assistant Director General; Prof. Sadık Ünay, Advisor to the Director General; Ms. Zeynep Durukal, Advisor to the Director General, and senior staff from different departments. Following a visit to the library, a meeting was held where guidelines were laid towards joint projects in the areas of research and a symposium on “Waqfs, past and present”, and promotion of the art of Islamic calligraphy through workshops and a regional competition.
