Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aiitmamat Kariev, Head of the Department for Islamic Studies, Faculty of Theology, Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, Kyrgyzstan, gave a lecture titled “The Approach of Imam as-Sarakhsi in the Formation of the Central Asian Hanafite School” on 14 July 2026 within the international online seminar series coordinated jointly by Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center (Samarkand, Uzbekistan) and IRCICA. Imam as-Sarakhsi (Abu Bakr Muhammad b. Ahmad as-Sarakhsi) was an important scholar of Islamic fiqh and theology who lived in 11th century in the Mawarannahr region (today’s Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan). In his comprehensive lecture, Assoc. Prof. Kariev reviewed and appraised the research, publications and academic programs conducted in universities and scientific centres about as-Sarakhsi’s contributions and scholarly legacy.
