The catalogue of Turkic manuscripts in the collections of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan is an important reference in its field that will enable major knowledge gains for researchers working in the fields of source studies, manuscript studies, history, languages and literature relating to Kazakhstan and at large Central Asia. Together with the valuable collections of Arabic and Persian manuscripts preserved in the National Library, the Turkic manuscripts constitute an inestimable asset of written cultural heritage that represents the authorship, copying and circulation of works in the learned Turkic language written in Arabic script. The greater part of the collection dates from the end of the eighteenth to the end of the nineteenth century; the bibliographic compilation will also draw attention to those among them still waiting to be explored for the information they contain as well as the book arts and techniques they embody.
The catalogue has been compiled by the scholar of Oriental studies and manuscript studies Dr. Galiya Kambarbekova, edited by the scholar in historical sciences Prof. Ashirbek Muminov on behalf of IRCICA, and presented as a joint publication of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, RAMK Islamic Research Institute, and IRCICA.
