IRCICA presented papers during major conferences on history organized by different research institutions and universities in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan during the month of April. In Kazakhstan, the international conference on “Al-Farabi and Globalization: The Unity of Science, Spirit and Philosophy” hosted by Al-Farabi Kazakh National University within the framework of the Fifth International Farabi Forum in Almaty, on 9-11 April 2026 heard the address of IRCICA Director General Prof. Mahmud Erol Kılıç (pre-recorded) underlining the characteristics of Al-Farabi as a philosopher and the paper of Prof. Ashirbek Muminov, Advisor on International Relations, IRCICA, titled “Manuscripts of Abu Nasr al-Farabi’s Works in the Libraries of Türkiye”.
Another conference IRCICA attended (online) in Kazakhstan was about “The Islamic Scholar Qiwamuddin Amir Katib al-Farabi al-Itqani: Life and Legacy”; it was coordinated on 7 April 2026 by the Egyptian University of Islamic Culture Nur-Mubarak, Almaty, where Prof. Ashirbek Muminov presented a study titled “Al-Itqani and His Era”. The conference was dedicated to the important scholar of Islamic jurisprudence and theology al-Itqani (d. 1357) on the 740th anniversary of his birth and the 25th anniversary of the Egyptian University of Islamic Culture Nur-Mubarak.
In Uzbekistan, Tashkent, a research paper on “Amir Timur and Sufism” was presented by Prof. Mahmud Erol Kılıç at the plenary session on 9 April 2026 of the international scientific conference on “The Place and Significance of Amir Timur and the Timurid Civilization in World History and Culture” organized by the Center of Islamic Civilization. Amir Timur’s (1370-1405) connections with Sufi sheikhs and sayyids are studied importantly in the context of Islamic thought, policies and religious circles during his reign and throughout the Timurid period dated up to 1506. Another important aspect of studies on the period was highlighted by Prof. Cengiz Tomar with his paper on “Amir Timur in the Mamluk Sources” contributed to the conference’s session on Urban Planning and Architecture held the same day.
IRCICA was also represented at the international conference on “Sahipkıran Amir Timur the Great Commander, Statesman, Patron of Science and Culture” convened by Bukhara State University, Uzbekistan, on 6 April 2026, where Prof. Ashirbek Muminov presented a paper titled “Amir Timur and the Second Renaissance”.
Through these activities, IRCICA tries to improve information and deepen understandings about significant periods and eminent personalities in the history of Muslim countries. The Centre conducts similar activities in other regions of the OIC-IRCICA membership geography over four continents.
