International Round Table on “Current Status of Research on History, Art and Culture in Tajikistan”

An International Round Table on “Current Status of Research on History, Art and Culture in Tajikistan” was conducted jointly by IRCICA and the Institute of History, Archeology and Ethnography of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan, in the capital Dushanbe, on 13 September 2019.

Opening speeches were given by Prof. Nasrullo Ubaidullo, Director, Institute of History, Archeology and Ethnography of the Academy of Sciences of the Tajikistan, Dushanbe and Prof. Halit Eren, Director General of IRCICA. Greetings were addressed to the meeting by Prof. Abdurahmon Navruz Muhammad, Vice-President of Tajikistan Academy of Sciences.

Two exhibitions of “Publications of the Academician Akhror Mukhtarov” and “Publications of Doctor Lola Dodkhudoeva” were opened on the sidelines of the round-table.

Second Session: “Manuscript Heritage”:

“Funds of Manuscripts and Books in the Scientific Library of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan”, by Prof. Dr. Shodimuhammad Sufizoda; “Manuscript funds at the Center of Written Heritage of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan”, by Prof. Dr. Jurabek Nazriev; “Funds of Manuscripts in the Institute of History, Archeology and Ethnography”, by Prof. Dr. Hamza Kamol; “Funds of Manuscripts in the National University of Tajikistan”, by Prof. Dr. Bahriddin Maksudov; “Funds of Manuscripts in the National Library of the Republic of Tajikistan”, by PhD Rajabali Dodikhudoev; “Penjikent Collections”, by Prof. Dr. Shodmon Vohidov; “Badakhshan Collections”, by Prof. Dr. Hokim Kalandarion; “Problems of Cataloging the Manuscript Funds”, by PhD Lola Dodkhudoeva.

A section of the round-table was devoted to presentation of the book Epitaphs of Muslim Scholars in Samarkand (10th–14th Centuries), Edited by Bakhtiyar Babadjanov (Uzbekistan), Lola Dodkhudoeva (Tajikistan), Ashirbek Muminov (Kazakhstan), Ulrich Rudolph (Switzerland), Project Director Halit Eren. Istanbul: IRCICA, 2019. Moderated by the Vice-President of Tajikistan Academy of Sciences and addressed by the Director General of IRCICA, this session highlighted the book’s significance with four speeches, by Prof. Dr. Ashirbek Muminov, Head, Research and Publication Department, IRCICA; PhD Candidate in Historical Sciences Lola Dodhudoeva, Center of Written Heritage, Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan; and, PhD Candidate of Historical Sciences Shawkat Sharipov, Khujand State University on “The Contribution of the Academician Akhror Mukhtarov into the Study of the Epigraphic Monuments of Central Asia”.

During the period of the conference, IRCICA Director General Prof. Halit Eren had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan H.E. Mr. Sirodjiddin Muhriddin, at the Ministry. The talks focused on cultural and academic cooperation between Tajikistan and IRCICA.
