Book launch for “Cultural History of Islam and Yasawiya in Kazakhstan and Central Asia”

A diplomatic and academic book launch ceremony was held at IRCICA on 3 October 2025 for the publication Cultural History of Islam and Yasawiya in Kazakhstan and Central Asia, a collection of articles by Prof. Devin DeWeese (USA) on the Islamic cultural history of Central Asia, translated into Kazakh by Kamila Muminova and published by the National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Aziret-Sultan” and IRCICA. The ceremony was addressed by the Director General of IRCICA Prof. Dr. Mahmud Erol Kılıç, the Deputy Director of the Museum Mr. Nurlan Dukenbaev, the Counsellor of the Consulate General of Kazakhstan in Istanbul Mr. Ildar Imankulov, the Deputy Chair for AK Parti’s Relations with the Turkic World Dr. Reşide Yüksel, and Prof. Dr. Abdulvahap Kara from Mimar Sinan University Department of History. The ceremony, held with the participation of faculty and students from universities’ related departments, underlined the importance of this book and similar works for highlighting the thoughts of the great scholars of tasawwuf and the history of the spread of their teachings across cultures.
