Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center (Samarkand) attached to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan and IRCICA have been organizing a series of open online academic seminars for almost two years now, under the theme “Central Asia: A Center of Culture and Art”. The series continued in 2026 with the lecture of Prof. Ashirbek Muminov, Advisor for Central Asia Studies at IRCICA, on “New Approaches and Methods in the Study of the History of Tasawwuf” held on 3 February 2026. The lecturer underlined the current variety of perspectives and methods and the resulting differences of research findings in this field, with special focus on Yasawi studies. The second lecture of the year was delivered on 26 February 2026 by Dr. Salah al-Jibali, Professor at Al-Azhar University, Cairo and Senior Lecturer at the Higher School for Hadith Science, Samarkand, on the topic “Narrators Over Whom There Is Disagreement in the Books of Transoxanian Muhaddiths”. Since the early centuries of Islam, the region of Transoxania – Mawarannahr has been the homeland of many Islamic scholars who contributed significantly to the Hadith-related sciences. The lecturer highlighted several types and instances of divergences of opinions between the region’s scholars regarding the authenticity of recorded Hadiths and the reliability of the narrators; he explained the methods used by the scholars for weighing the evidence and reaching conclusions, and alluded to other aspects of the profound and subtle sciences of the Hadith. These lectures are open to international attendance.
